Of oriental origins, but to an 18th century English design. This is a highly unusual and decorative drinks cabinet. The base is of Queen Anne design with a little Portuguese influence. Made from walnut with gilded highlights to the carvings. The top section is red lacquered with a mass of gilded flowers and foliage. A rare feature of this piece is that it is finished with lacquer to every side (please check other drinks cabinets to see for yourself). We can only suspect that it was a special commission made to be free standing in the middle of a room. Internally there is one shelf and three drawers, all of which are solid oak lined (another unusual feature showing quality). The mirrors are finished in cube shapes with a distress finish which is original from new. It has a mirrored drinks slide and a working lock and key. In very good condition this piece will look superb in the right setting.
